Thanks to his parents’ hard work; his current level of functioning is near his chronological age.

Krishna was the naughtiest kid in my batch, suits his name. But eventually he surprised us with his progress and determination

I remember the day Gargi came into the class; she wasn’t afraid of anything and only wanted to play with the toys

His parents were completely unaware of the process and were scared but they knew they wanted their son to go to school and learn so they co-operated and now he’s doing well in Shivaji Vidya Mandir

Sakshi has now been integrated into a normal school and this only happened because of her hard working parents.

Therapy sessions with Kanika were challenging but she eventually caught up and now she loves her new school and friends.

Parent Experience

A month after he was born we were informed that Abhijit had the ‘Rubella Syndrome’. He has cataracts in both his eyes; later we learnt that he had profound hearing loss as well. We were struck with deep grief, felt helpless and could only cry. One of our relatives gave us the address of EARS. The early intervention therapists and audiologists explained everything about the treatment.

Sometime into the treatment he started saying words like ‘Mummy’, ‘Pappa’ and ‘give me’; we were thrilled to hear that. He learnt to solve sums, write and speak with the help of EARS. Now he’s integrated into a good school and is doing well in academics. Apart from studies he also likes to participate in story-telling, drama, fancy dress and elocution competitions.

My son was diagnosed at one year and four months with profound hearing loss. It took me days to digest this news and well as realise that language is not something you’re born with. I realised that he won’t be able to hear/ speak as well read/ write. EARS was the first school we approached after a recommendation.

We were fortunate that the philosophy followed by the school of Audio Verbal Therapy was at that time new and revolutionary. They put us on the right path. I can safely say that my son would not be where he is now had I not been exposed to their ideas at the right time. He went to St. Mary’s with his peers, did well in ICSE and now is in H.R. college. We have daily conversations about everything under the sun and his incredible sense of humour brings joy you cannot imagine.

- Tanya Joseph

My elder daughter was diagnosed with severe hearing loss at the age of 3 years. Before that she never used to respond to her name nor had she spoken a word. We were extremely worried and didn’t know what was wrong. We thought that eventually, she would start talking. Our relative encouraged us to take her to the doctor and our nightmares came true.

We were asked to visit EARS and were told that it is a good school. She was advised to get a cochlear implant and AVT. We were afraid at first but if we knew how that implant would help her we would’ve done this sooner. We are extremely grateful for EARS and the hardworking people behind it. Our lovely daughter is now enjoying her studies and has made many friends.
